Pastor Robert Walker from Kingston was the guest preacher in Clark’s Town on Sabbath day, July 15, 2017.

His topic was 1 Timothy 2:9.

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Pastor Walker looked at the verse a little differently. He sought to dig deeper into its meaning for us today. This he did by looking at the cultural and historical context in which the Apostle Sha’ul (Paul) wrote the verse.

In the end, it became a case of “there is nothing new under the sun.”

Pastor Robert Walker hosts a question and answer (Q&A) session during the Sabbath teaching in West Road, Kingston at the First Congregation of Yahweh International. Pastor Walker is the head Pastor of the Kingston group.

The gift of righteousness. How many persons look on righteousness as a gift? Not many realize that it is.

The presentation was based on Romans 5:17.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Yahshua the Messiah.

Pastor Robert Walker delivered his teaching on the threshold covenant during the Feast of Tabernacles in 2015. However, a request came up from one of our members, who wanted to hear it again.

We had it only in the form of audio and the audio quality is not 100% perfect, but the message comes through. The message is based on Psalm 50.

The occasion was a Sabbath gathering (in West Road, Kingston) of all the First Congregation of Yahweh groups.

Psalm 50

[50:1] (A Psalm of Asaph.) The mighty Elohim, even YHWH, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

[2] Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, Elohim hath shined.

[3] Our Elohim shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.

[4] He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

[5] Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

[6] And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for Elohim is judge himself. Selah.

[7] Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am Elohim, even thy Elohim.

[8] I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.

[9] I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.

In Search of Immortality

Overseer Pastor Lynval Henry delivered the Sabbath School teaching on July 15, 2017 in Clark’s Town. The teaching was entitled: “In Search of Immortality” and looks at man’s timeless quest for immortality.

The teaching started by looking at how sinful man searched for immortality outside of Yahshua. He then spent a considerable time on Adam and Eve. However, the base scripture was taken from 1 Corinthians 15:42-53.

[42] So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

[43] It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

[44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

[45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

[46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

[47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

[50] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

[51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

[52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

This sermon was delivered at the Clark’s Town branch of First Congregation of Yahweh International.

The core reading is taken from 2 Corinthian 5:10-21:

2 Corinthians 5:10 – 21 (KJV)

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Knowing therefore the terror of Yahweh, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto Elohim; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to Yahweh: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

For the love of Messiah constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known the Messiah after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Therefore if any man be in the Messiah, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

And all things are of Yahweh, who hath reconciled us to himself by Yahshua the Messiah, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

To wit, that Yahweh was in the Messiah, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Messiah, as though Elohim did beseech you by us: we pray you in the Messiah’s stead, be ye reconciled to Yahweh.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of Yahweh in him.

Clarks Town Youth sing Yahweh

Overseer Pastor Lynval Henry has been away in the United States for the past month. He returned midweek and was present for Sabbath service on April 29. He delivered a memorable sermon based on 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

End Feast Medley Unleavened Bread 2017

The Feast of Unleavened Bread 2017 came to an end in Clark’s Town on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. As usual, it incorporated all 4 groups from western Jamaica (Content, Paisley, Yorkland and Clark’s Town).

The day was marred by the news that one of the mothers of the assembly, Mother Estelle, had been admitted to hospital. Notably missing from the assembly were Sisters Joan and Ffrenchie, who were with their mom in the St Ann’s Bay hospital. Full Story.

Pastor Lewis presented a great sermon about faith, connected to the theme: “the Kingdom, a present reality.”

The day ended in the mid afternoon with the saints celebrating, singing a medley of songs, which we feature in the video below.

Pastor Kerr and Mother Estelle Taylor

Mother Estelle Taylor, one of the founders of First Congregation of Yahweh, is now recovering from heart surgery.

She had been feeling ill for the past few weeks. She was able to attend the seventh day Sabbath service in the Feast of Unleavened Bread in Kingston but she was not her usual self.

A visit to the doctor revealed that her heart rate was very low. The 93-year old who is normally as strong as a 55-year old, was admitted to the St. Ann’s Bay hospital. She was transferred to the University hospital to have a pacemaker inserted to regularise her heart beat.

She started making a quick recovery after the surgery and is now at home getting back to her full strength.

On October 22 last year, Mother Taylor was the front seat passenger involved in a serious accident in Clark’s Town, on returning from a Sabbath meeting in Kingston.

Mother Estelle does not feel Yahweh is not done with her yet. She says she asked him to take her to 100 and she believes he will take her there.

The family of First Congregation of Yahweh International would like to thank all those who offered prayers and well wishes during her time of ilness.
